custom homes through the use of only the highest quality materials,
products, and craftsmen. Through over 30 years of experience Woodstone has
developed construction features that are rivaled by few in the custom
home market.
Structural/General
Construction
-Generous 12, 13, or 14 course foundation
walls with 12" concrete blocks; Dur-O-Wal reinforcement truss imbedded in the horizontal mortar
joints of the wall for added strength
-Polymer emulsion waterproofing is
sprayed on the exterior of the parged foundation wall for
waterproofing and air barrier, and a dimpled high-density
polyethylene drainage and waterproofing membrane is applied over the
sprayed waterproofing creating a drain air-gap barrier which
channels any exterior moisture down through the soil to the footing
drainage system; used together, the sprayed and wrapped water
proofing and drainage system provides superior protection against
wet basement walls
-4" perforated exterior
perimeter foundation drain tile in gravel base with filter fabric over
6" of gravel topping connected to the storm lateral or interior
perimeter drain tile
-4" perforated interior perimeter drain tile in gravel base below
basement concrete floor, connected to sump pump crock
-Garage floors reinforced with wire mesh and steel bars, with optional
floor drains
-Floors are Weyerhaeuser TrusJoist, 16" on center, with glued and
nailed 3/4" AdvenTech structural sub-flooring

-Exterior walls are
2" x 4" studs, 16" on center, with 7/16" OSB wall sheathing
-Rafter roof construction, 16" on center, with ½" AdvanTech roof sheathing for superior rigidity
-All hem-fir framing lumber for added structural integrity;
pressure treated pine sill plates over concrete block and slabs
-Exterior sidewalls are Tyvek wrapped and taped to eliminate air and
water penetration
-Concealed vinyl flashings under brick facing at foundation ledge
and windowsills, to prevent moisture penetration
-1/2" drywall on interior walls and ceilings; drywall is glued,
nailed and screwed to reduce nail pops
-5/8" Type X fire-rated drywall on garage walls and ceiling
-All interior drywall ceilings are finished smooth, with ceiling heights
ranging from 8 feet to a full two story -- per design
-“Level 5” drywall finish on
all interior walls and ceilings, with Sheetrock Brand Primer-Surfacer
dual purpose vinyl acrylic-latex base spray coating applied to the
taped and sanded drywall board. A single spray application achieves
the same results that is typically achieved using a two-step “Level 5”
finish process of a skim coat of joint compound, to provide the
highest quality drywall finish. The 15-20 mils Wet Film Thickness
application of Primer-Surfacer coating eliminates minor surface
defects typically found in “Level 4” drywall finishes, provides a
uniform substrate for wall paint coats, and ensures smoother finished
walls and ceilings. In ceiling applications, the Primer-Surfacer
provides an ideal flat white finish coat.
Fireplaces
-Fireplaces are wood burning masonry or HEAT-N-GLO gas burning units,
with outside air supply provided for combustion
Exterior
-Pella insulated fiberglass exterior entrance doors, with aluminum
clad frames, offer
structural strength, low maintenance, and energy efficiency
-Pella aluminum clad, Low-E insulated sliding glass doors and double
patio doors with sliding screen and optional muntins
-Pella aluminum clad, Low-E insulated casement or double-hung
windows with removable screens and optional muntins, which allow for
variety in design and offer superior quality and efficiency
-Velux skylights per design
-CertainTeed Landmark Class A Fire Rated fiberglass-asphalt dimensional roof
shingles, with lifetime warranty, offering the depth
and texture similar to that of a cedar shake roof;
applied over 15 lb. felt underlayment, with "Ice and Water Shield
Membrane" on the eave’s edge to a point at least 24” inside the
exterior wall line
-CraneBoard Double 7 solid core insulated vinyl siding with lifetime
warranty, with CraneBoard 5-½" corner boards, 5" window casings,
frieze boards, and vented soffits; with brick or stone accents per
design
-Maintenance free aluminum gutters and downspouts to underground storm
sewers
-CHI insulated core overhead garage doors are pre-finished two-sided
galvanized steel
Insulation
-R-38
fiberglass insulation in attic areas through the use of R-11 friction
fit fiberglass batts with R-27 blown-in fiberglass, prevents voids
typically found when using only batt insulation
-R-20 wall insulation through the use of R-15 friction fit
fiberglass batt in a 2x4 wall with a glued and taped 3/4" rigid
closed cell Hi-R board interior envelope; this method is superior to
an R-21 batt in a 2x6 wall because it forms a continuous insulation
and air barrier over all framing materials and because it
substantially reduces air convection currents inside the wall cavity
which contribute to heat loss/gain
-Floor frame boxes of the first and second floor are insulated with
R-21 friction fit fiberglass batts
-Pressure treated wooden sill plates placed on the foundation wall are applied over
a layer of fiberglass to prevent air infiltration
-Basement walls are insulated with R-11 FSK faced fiberglass on the interior
of the block wall
-Foam
sealant is installed around all mechanical penetrations and backer
rod is installed around all window and door openings
-Plumbing supply and drain lines are insulated to reduce noise
-Bathroom walls are insulated for noise reduction
Interior
Trim
-All doorways, arches, and windows are cased in trim, with 3-1/4"
or 3-1/2" wide moldings
-Rooms are finished with 5-1/4" baseboard moldings
-Six-panel smooth interior hinged doors with three polished brass
hinges per door
-Emtek solid brass locksets throughout, with deadbolts on all exterior
doors and privacy sets on all bedroom and bathroom doors
-Hardwood stair railings, choice of stain or stain/paint combinations
-Oak treads on main stairways with clear pine risers and stringers;
select yellow pine treads with clear pine risers and stringers on
basement stairs
-Modern pre-finished ventilated metal shelving with deluxe free-slide
closet rods in all closets
Interior
Finish
-Interior walls in kitchen, baths, laundry, powder room and mud area
are finished with two coats Acrylic Latex Eggshell wall paint
-Interior walls in remainder of house are finished with two coats of
washable Acrylic Latex Flat wall paint
-Interior doors and wood trim are finished with two coats of
Acrylic Latex Semi-Gloss paint
-Interior ceilings are finished
with a single spray application of Sheetrock Brand Primer-Surfacer
dual purpose white vinyl acrylic-latex base coating
-Interior of garage is drywalled and painted with one coat of Bone
White Super Hide Latex Flat Wall Paint
-No extra charges for different paint colors
Flooring
-Natural stone tile, ceramic tile, or hardwood floors are typically featured
in entry foyers, mud areas, laundry rooms, kitchens/dinettes, and
dining rooms
-Generous carpet allowance for the remainder of the home
Bath
Tile
-Tub and shower walls and ceilings are full ceramic tile; shower floors
are full ceramic tile
-Bath and powder room floors are full ceramic tile with sanitary tile
base and marble doorsills
-Bathroom
ceramic tile floors are applied over Schluter-DITRA polyethylene
underlayment and ceramic wall tiles are applied over cement board
(which is made of aggregated cement and reinforced with polymer-coated
glass-fiber mesh embedded in both surfaces) for strong and waterproof
tile bases
-Shower bases are ceramic tile
applied over concrete and Chloraloy shower pan, with marble threshold
Plumbing
-High quality Kohler faucets with Kohler plumbing fixtures (all Full-Line
Kohler colors included)
-Kohler whirlpool in master bathroom
-Stainless steel, cast iron, or integral kitchen and laundry sinks
-Pressure-balanced Kohler shower valves combined with 3/4" PEX water
main and riser supply lines prevent scalding and ensure generous and
uniform water supply throughout
-Hot water recirculation system, with continuous hot water supply to

quality brands such as Wolf, Subzero, Thermador, Kitchen Aid, Bosch,
Whirlpool, Amana, and Jenn-Air appliances
Burglar
and Fire Alarm
-Burglar and fire alarm system includes exterior door sensors, basement
window sensors, two control panels, motion detectors, smoke/heat detectors,
and an exterior strobe light that is activated upon alarm
